Offers in both. Toronto is CAD 82k, Calgary is CAD 91k. On paper Calgary wins twice: more money and no provincial sales tax. What I cannot judge from here is how much smaller the job market is if this role does not work out, and how much of the difference rent eats. Anyone working in either? Especially interested in how easy it is to move companies in Calgary if oil and gas turns down again.

Calgary rent is genuinely lower and the CAD 9k difference is real money. The risk you named is the right one though. If the role ends, Toronto has more places to go. That is worth something even if it is not worth 9k to you.
