About
Built because the information was failing people.
Going abroad is one of the biggest financial and personal decisions a person makes. In Sri Lanka it is usually made from WhatsApp forwards, contradictory forum posts and whatever an agent decides to tell you. AbroadMaster exists to fix that.
Our mission
To make it possible for anyone in Sri Lanka to answer three questions honestly and for free: where can I actually go, what will it really cost, and what do I do first?
Nobody should have to pay an agent Rs. 50,000 to find out they were never eligible in the first place. That basic information should be free, verifiable and dated, and the moment it isn't free, the people who most need it are the ones who lose out.
How we make money
Two streams, both stated plainly so you can judge our incentives:
- The AI Assistant pass: Rs. 990 per month, prepaid, no subscription. It costs us money to run, so it costs you a little too.
- Advertising: display ads and, later, placements sold to travel agencies. Always labelled “Sponsored”, always separated from editorial and community content.
What we will never do: sell your personal data, charge for the Eligibility Checker, take money to change a rating, or hide a negative review of anyone who pays us.
How we got here
Research first, then code.

We asked, instead of assuming
177 people planning to go abroad told us what actually goes wrong. 73% were still just researching, and the top three problems were an unclear process, no way to choose a country, and no way to estimate cost.
How we know: Collected through an online form (Google Forms) on 3 August 2026. Respondents opted in themselves, so this is a self-selected sample of people already looking to move abroad, not a representative survey of Sri Lanka.

Building the platform
Eligibility Checker, Country Info Hub, community forums, and a retrieval-grounded AI Assistant, with the trust rules written into the build, not bolted on later.
Next
PWA, agent verification, alerts
Installable offline access, verified agent profiles, policy change alerts for the countries you follow, and deeper AI tools: a personalised roadmap generator and country comparator.
What we commit to
Four promises we're willing to be held to.
Source everything
Every requirement traces back to an official immigration authority or embassy page, and the link is on the page.
Date everything
Guides carry a last-verified date. A quarterly review is the floor; policy changes trigger an immediate update.
Keep the core free
Eligibility, country guides and community are free permanently. Not a trial, not a teaser: a product decision.
Never sell trust
Advertisers get a labelled placement and nothing else. No review suppression, no ranking boost, no exceptions.
Who builds it

J.R.L Weerasingha
Founder and developer
Godakawela, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka
One person. AbroadMaster is designed, built, researched and maintained by J.R.L Weerasingha, an independent developer based in Godakawela, Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. There is no company behind it, no investors, and no agency partnership.
That matters for a reason: with nobody to sell placements to and nobody demanding growth at any cost, there is no pressure to bury a bad review or dress up a country's requirements. If something on this site is wrong, exactly one person is accountable for it, and that person reads the support inbox.
Not a migration agent, not a lawyer, and with no commercial relationship to any agency reviewed on this platform.
Tell us when we are wrong
An error in a guide, a fee that has changed, an eligibility result that looks wrong: corrections are treated as urgent and jump the queue. Being told we got something wrong is genuinely more useful to us than praise, because the entire premise of this site is that its information can be trusted.
The contact page has every mailbox, the WhatsApp line and the response times we hold ourselves to.
